This is my second large hand carved clipper ship done by request for a customer.
The clipper hull is carved from a 12"x2"x2" basswood block. The two notable differences from my first clipper ship carving is I used a V-tool to do some detail for the bow-peak and water line. I also used shellac for the finish rather than polyurethane.
Like all my previous models, the sails are made from hand-cut basswood. However I bent the jib and stay sails as well to create the illusion of catching the wind.[link]
