Hand Carved Clipper Ship #5 - Completed

I carved the hull from a solid 10”x1.75”x1.75” basswood block in the folk art style. The sails are cut from 1/16” basswood sheets.

The hull is colored with medium walnut Danish Oil and finished with natural shellac. The sails are colored with natural Danish Oil. The rigging was completed with brown button thread and brass nails. The display is hand made, and lengthened to help avoid striking and breaking the bow sprit. I etched the decorative bow peak with a v-tool and it is painted with acrylic metallic gold paint. The water lines and decorative lines are were also etched with a v-tool and painted with acrylic metallic gold paint.
